The year 2020 was not a normal year for any of us, it has been very difficult to operate as normal due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

With that being said, our amazing New Vehicle Sales Team worked extremely hard and were rewarded with an unbelievable achievement. On the 22nd of April 2021, Ford Motor Company of South Africa held its Virtual Annual Awards function for the year 2020. We at CMH Kempster Ford Umhlanga are proud to announce that the amazing New Vehicle Sales Team won the Sales Merit Award under their respective category for Ford Motor Company South Africa.

This is a huge achievement in such difficult times, even when operating in such an unusual working environment the Team still met the criteria and standards for the Ford Motor Company. The most important part of it was ensuring every guest left the dealership satisfied and happy.

If we have ever been known as a resilient nation, the month of July 2021 has proven this statement to be true. With riots and looting going on all over but mainly affecting KZN and Gauteng we had to close some dealerships in KZN. However, we all bounced back very quickly and with the support of CMH we have picked up the pieces and strive to do even better in the coming months.

Amongst all of this, we were still able to celebrate 3 of our staff members birthdays, one being our DP Werner Van Zyl and the other two being Ryan Mckee – New Cars Sales Manager and Kyle Erasmus ”“ Pre-owned Sales Executive. Although times were very difficult, we made these days special for them and decorated the office with balloons and handed over a gift to each one. Birthdays are special and need to be celebrated.

A very proud moment also took place during the month of July when CMH Ford Hatfield handed over the Ford Ranger Wildtrak to Rosh Schoeman who is the Director of Woodhill Residential Estate and Country Club. We are proud to be the sponsors of this vehicle to Rosh.

Steven joined us at the end of June, originally, he is a singer by profession but decided to take a leap of faith into the motor industry as a New Car Sales Executive and has fitted in like a hand in a glove.

Eugene joined us on 26 July and was originally in the SAPS Human resources division for 2 years. He then went over to Audi Arcadia in 2020 as a sales executive for pre-owned vehicles and has now joined our Team as a New Car Sales Executive.

Mpho is our new Intern and joined us on the 22nd of July, she is currently stationed in the Parts Division for training.

Minette joined us at the beginning of July as New Cars Fleet Sales Executive and has been in the motor industry since 2003. She has received numerous awards throughout her career, top seller for Kia, Sales manager of the month for 3 months consecutively just to name a few. She will be concentrating largely on helping us grow our Fleet division.

FordPass Connect makes life simpler and easier and, as Ford South Africa’s best-selling vehicle ”“ which is locally produced at the Silverton Assembly Plant here in Pretoria (Talk about Home ground advantage) ”“ it is the first to offer this innovative technology as standard. All Rangers equipped with FordPass Connect are fitted with an embedded modem at no additional cost that pairs with the FordPass smartphone app to unlock a range of new connected services.

FordPass: connectivity at your fingertips With the FordPass App, owners can check their vehicle’s key variables including fuel level and oil status, tyre pressures and mileage through the convenience of their smartphone.

Vehicle Status and Remote Vehicle Monitoring: Through the FordPass app’s Vehicle Status feature, owners can check their vehicle’s key variables including fuel level and oil status, tyre pressures (where the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System is fitted on the Wildtrak) and mileage through the convenience of their smartphone.

Map and Search: Through the FordPass app, customers have access to an extensive range of search options, including Ford dealers, fuel stations, available parking, entertainment, coffee shops and travel destinations such as hotels and lodges.

Roadside Assistance: Throughout the FordPass app, customers have instant access to call Ford’s 24-hour emergency Roadside Assistance, which is valid for three years/unlimited distance, and is provided by the Automobile Association (AA).

Vehicle Support: The app provides extensive additional resources for customers, including how-to videos explaining features and technologies in the Ranger, digital Owner’s Manual, and an Alerts Guide addressing many issues such as water in fuel, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) warning, and numerous other warning messages.

A Warm welcome to Donovan Naidoo, our new Parts Manager. Donovan started his career at an aftermarket outlet in 1997. After 6 years of loyal service, he decided to join Ford in 2003 as a Parts Salesman. Thereafter achieving excellent results as a salesman, Donovan moved up the ladder again and became a Manager in 2014.

Being a person that is passionate and takes pride in ensuring his staff are happy which in turn kept Guests satisfied and targets were met. He became an overachiever which is in his nature. We are so thrilled to announce that the new Ranger FX4 has arrived at CMH Ford Gezina! It has been an exciting past year with Ford and the Ranger family grew significantly in the past few months with the introduction of the Ranger Thunder (based on the WIldtrak) and the Ranger XL Sport. I’m sure you are aware of how unique, eye-catching and kitted-out the new Ranger members are, and let me tell you, the Ranger FX4 are also here to turn some heads and to stand out from the crowd.

FordPass connected vehicle features:

We recently had the opportunity to invite our clients once again to a 4×4 off-road training day held at Killarney 4×4 Trail. Our clients get to enjoy the day out with us and learn more about their 4×4 vehicles. The practical knowledge and exposure to suitable terrain and to learn more always proves to be a huge hit with our clients.

The day started with a drive through Shongweni Valley, the views and sounds of the mountains were incredible. We all met at the Killarney Trail at 08:00 am our instructor, Travis, started by introducing our customers to a basic 4×4 track day, he showed us the basics of 4×4 driving and the controls on how to recover the vehicle safely, should they get stuck. We then went up and down some steep hills and over a few challenging obstacles.

More 4×4 Challenges

The second part of the course involved the ’Slippery’ hill with the wet terrain it sure proved to be a test for our learning clients, which they all passed with flying colours. Our day progressed to the challenge on the two railings, where you must very carefully line up your wheels perfectly on the two rails and drive from one side to the other without sliding off. This proved very difficult, but all the customers managed to achieve this obstacle with absolute confidence.

After the exhilarating experience on the tracks, everybody came back on-site and had pre-packed picnic baskets as no braais / large gatherings are permissible due to COVID-19. Our clients had the pleasure of using the trail for the entire day and some clients were more than eager to go back out alone in the mountains. The aim of the day? For our clients to learn as much as they can about their vehicles and leaving the day with pride and confidence in their 4X4. We would highly recommend this to all that have 4×4 vehicles, this was such an adventurous and fun-filled day out with our family and loyal customers.

At the beginning of December 2020, CMH Steyns Ford Pretoria took on a journey that focuses on improving the experience of our guests when visiting our dealership.

As a dealership that has been running since 1924, you can imagine how we do need to shift, refocus, and adjust now and then to uphold the experience and the service rendered to our guests. The process was not an easy one as it took dedication, teamwork, and smart work and being goal-orientated, there was a lot of shifting, improving, and introducing of new processes to improve the experience of guests at CMH Steyns Ford Pretoria.

The Ford guest experience focuses on making the experience of the guest in every aspect of the dealership excellent with emphasis on the Vehicle sales department and Service department because every guest is special, what we got out of this is happy guests who often rate our service as excellent!

After we learned the importance of the Ford Guest Experience, we took it upon ourselves as a dealership to carry it out and to conquer. What the experience does is build long term relationships with every guest that visits us.

What more can we say, we came together as a team and with the help of our coaches we are now certified as the Ford guest experience dealership and we could not be prouder of ourselves and the work we put in.

The certification ceremony took place on the 7th of April 2021 at CMH Steyns Ford Pretoria, we had the time of our lives as a team and as we came together for the same goal, we then came together to celebrate being certified and every one of our team had a signature moment where we committed to the Ford Guest Experience!

The whole ceremony was put perfectly in place and it was such a special afternoon for us. We had a catering company and were served a three-course meal with beverages.
